I ordered all of the lumber and decking that I needed (or that I thought I'd need) and had it delivered to our house. It was a good deal of material, so having it dropped in the exact spot I wanted with a forklift was worth the delivery cost.
Our demolition began with pulling off all the old deck. It didn't take long since a lot of it was pretty old and feeble from years of neglect. From there, the framing began. It was a big undertaking for just two of us, but my dad and I moved quickly. We had poured the concrete for our posts several days before so that they'd be ready. We pulled the siding off of the house, put up flashing and then attached our ledger board. We put up our posts and set dropped in our beam.

From there, it was just a matter of nailing in all of the hangers and lifting up the 16 foot 2X12s. You can see that each beam is supported by a hanger. Our beam (the one sitting on the posts) was also put into metal supports. For some added stability, we decided to add in cross supports tying the beams to each other. That pretty much eliminated any sway the deck had. And the framing of the deck was complete.
